Importance for the region
For being the only Graduate program in Eastern Amazon Genetics in the area of biological sciences I, PPGBM is considered as a regional reference in the establishment of partnerships and collaborations in intra and inter-regional nature. Besides having granted the qualification of professionals that currently contribute with the nucleation of new research groups at different institutions. The pioneering nature that Genetics in the State of Pará has in the region causes a positive social impact that is felt in all areas of the biological sciences, in different teaching and research institutions. Face to this logic, the Program has as Future Plans extend its selection process of professionals from other parts of the area of the Information Sciences, like mathematicians and physicists, in a way that the student body from PPGBM undertakes a more multidisciplinary nature. Which will certainly bring meaningful contributions not only to the Program, but also to the rest of society that will rely on highly qualified professionals to act in the development of the region.
